A diet is considered to be healthy when a variety of food is consumed which is deemed to be rich in nutrients and provides the organism with the quantity and quality that each person needs according to their health and physiological condition. For this reason, a child does not require the same as an adult, in the same way that a pregnant woman should not eat the same as a top sportsperson.

A varied diet involves eating fruit of different colours, different vegetables, dairy products, meat and pulses, etc. Nutrients are a set of elements that our body needs, as well as proteins, vitamins, minerals and fats. The macronutrients that provide energy are as follows: proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Both nutrients are equally important.

Diet involves a process we carry out automatically according to our body needs. There are several things we should not forget in order to pursue a healthy diet:

  • Combining food
  • Having five meals a day
  • Avoiding fatty products and sweets
  • Eating meat, fish, cheese, etc, two or three times a day
  • Having a balanced diet, respecting the percentages recommended for different nutrients: carbohydrates 50-60%, fats 30-35% and proteins 10-15%
